Automatisierte medizinische Therapiesysteme

Automated therapy systems support or replace functional systems or organs of the human body. This usually involves cooperation between technical and physiological (sub)systems, for that reason the design and development of such systems requires interdisciplinary knowledge of automation technology, physiology and pathophysiology. The most important theoretical foundation of automation technology is system and control theory. Its methods are indispensable tools for the design and development of automated therapy systems, which are described in the book:  Electrotherapy of the heart using pacemakers and defibrillators, circulatory support and artificial heart, mechanical ventilation and anaesthesia technology, heart-lung machines and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, dialysis technology, temporary liver support, artificial pancreas/AID systems, functional electrostimulation after paraplegia and stroke, and procedures in neurological movement therapy.
